MAKING MY BONES

Starting with a washed up 1994 Harley Davidson FXR "ex" Maryland State Police Parade duty bike this custom emerged.

John was counting the FXR's that had rolled through the doors at the Gangster Compound and remembered a few "cruisers", a "hi-tech", a "hard-core", a "race", and a bunch of "choppers" but not a retro FXR in the mix.

Armed with only a frame, motor, transmission, swing arm, lower motor mount, and an oil tank meant that the rest had to be fabricated from scratch. Doing just that a Leaf Springer front end was fabricated. Just to highlight a few custom parts involved on this build, gas tank, seat, fender, exhaust pipe, tag mount with oil filter, tail light, push rods, wheel assembies, top motor mount, and tons of machine work to pull in and round off the details.

This version of an FXR turned out to be John's favorite to ride so far, he reports that "the smooth rubber mount power makes for a great cruiser and so much style is a real crowd pleaser. Where ever its ridden or parked it gathers a crowd."
