There are few builders any more that purely have their business plan based on only custom bikes. You'll be surprised on where supplemental income comes from, from some of the top names in the business. Unless they are ripping off their customers with high prices, they have to financially supplement their passion to build choppers. In order to participate in this industry, most guys have day jobs outside this market and outside our skilled trade. I call them chopper hobbyists at this point.
